All of the 14 crew members on the "Joe 2" vessel that sank off Kumluca district of Antalya province were Syrian nationals, the semi-official Anadolu Agency reported. The vessel was transporting aluminum from the Iskenderun port in Türkiye's southern Hatay province to the Port of Izmail in Ukraine. Five crew members have been saved by the Turkish Coast Guard Command which dispatched a vessel, several boats and two helicopters to the site, according to a statement from the command. TransAsia aircraft crashes in northern Taiwan

Rescue workers are searching for those missing on Feb. 4, 2015, as a TransAsia Airways aircraft crashed into a river in northern Taiwan after apparently losing speed while taking off from Taipei's Songshan Airport. The twin-engine short-haul plane had on board five crew members and 53 passengers, including four children.

NAGOYA, Japan - The 697-ton fuel tanker Kyokuyo Maru burst into flames off Owase, Mie Prefecture, July 15 after it was rammed by the 499-ton coastal bulk carrier Nikko Maru. One Kykuyo Maru crew member was killed and five others went missing in the collision. All five Nikko Maru crew members were rescued.

8 bodies recovered after cargo ship founders in Pacific

KOCHI, Japan - The photo, taken from a Kyodo News helicopter, shows a Japan Coast Guard ship on Jan. 8 rescuing a crew member of a cargo ship that sank the previous day in the Pacific Ocean off Kochi Prefecture. Five crew members of the Panamanian-registered 3,561-ton White Koowa, all Filipinos, have been rescued by coast guard patrol boats and another cargo ship. The bodies of eight crew members were found Jan. 8 and one remains missing. The surviving crew members said the ship, owned by a company in Ehime Prefecture, sank at around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 7. The vessel was transporting ore from Indonesia to Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture.

Ship spots wheels believed to be of missing ASDF plane

KYOTO, Japan - A wheel assembly believed to be from an Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) cargo aircraft that went missing June 28 is seen floating in the ocean off Tottori Prefecture later the same day. The flotsam was spotted by a Japan Coast Guard patrol ship. Rescuers continued their search for the C-1 plane's five crew members on June 29.
